DJ Black Coffee in Soweto- A night to remember.

Sunday evening around 8pm, it is drizzling and people are flocking into Soweto Italian restaurant and pub, La cadi. The restaurant is located on the corner of Tshabalala and Machaba street within the popular Eyethu Lifestyle Centre.
Hip hop and electro dance music lovers donned in their Sunday best are ready to take on the dance floor.
Warming up the decks for the main man of the night is a great line up of younger talent, Dj Motsumi, Dj Shimza and Dj sir juice.
We got to mingle with other attendees and took a few snaps before Black coffee arrived.
The dance floor became alive as soon as Black coffee hit the decks around midnight. The Carob magazine crew also couldn’t resist the dance floor. The show was themed, ‘A night to remember, and it definitely was a night to remember. Soon after the electrifying performance from Dj black coffee, Carob Magazine caught up with the influential musician behind the scenes for an interview. See below.
Interview with Dj black coffee by Ntsako Mbhokota.
Ntsako: We’re a very African oriented magazine, so we interested in finding out, the name Black coffee, how did it come about? Did it perhaps have anything to do with your complexion?
Black Coffee: (chuckles….) I got it from a Zambian friend of mine a long time ago even before I was a Dj. And yes, to answer your question, he was referring to my dark skin color.
Ntsako: Carob magazine has learned that you lost the ability to use your left arm from an injury that resulted during a celebration of the release of Nelson Mandela. What does that mean to you in terms of where South Africa is right now?
DJ Black Coffee: To me it is a very significant thing, to some extent, I am quite honored to tell my story and that is why I am also driven to contribute positively to the lives of young South Africans.
Ntsako: Tell us more about the black Coffee foundation, what made you start such a great initiative?
Dj Black coffee: The DJ Black Coffee Foundation was started because I wanted to assist young people with disabilities in the townships, the aim of the foundation is to become the most efficient fundraising entity and resource mobilization trust to improve social cohesion of disabled people and orphanages.
A few things Carob thinks you might be interested to know about DJ Black coffee…
1.He was born in Kzn Ethekwini and grew up in Eastern Cape.
2, He was part of the South African popular boy band SHANA before going solo.
3, He has won numerous awards, 8 SAMAS, 4 DJ awards, 2 metro Fm Awards and 1 Grammy.
4. He is without doubt one of the most Influential artists globally.
